Uncle Kid makes dark, broody, understated trip hop with spoken word. His debut EP, ‘Indistinct Chatter’ grabbed the attention of BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson who describes him as an “unsettling Scottish artist” and hailed his first single, ‘Supermarket Sweep’ as “a song for our times”. Meanwhile, BBC Scotland’s Vic Galloway has drawn comparisons to Massive Attack and Arab Strap. He’s also earned many plaudits among prominent online blogs, with Total Rock describing his second single ‘Lamplig’ as "Wonderful, haunted folk charm and trip hop, a truly unique sound".

Edinburgh based Uncle Kid, who produces all his own material, delivers spoken word throughout. 'Indistinct Chatter' deals with themes ranging from broken family and mental turmoil, to binge drinking, politics, and a general sense of alienation in society. 2022 has seen him develop an unconventional live set featuring circuit-bent Casio keyboards and children’s toys. Building on the momentum of his debut gig in Leicester, Uncle Kid kicked off 2023 with two January Scottish dates at Glasgow's Hug And Pint and Edinburgh's Leith Depot.
