Hand-picked by Yamaha to be the first ever Yamaha Music London Ambassador band and winners of the 2023 Glastonbury/Pilton Party competition, Galaxy Thief are a British indie rock 4-piece from Swanage in Dorset. Formed in early 2017, influences from bands such as Nothing But Thieves, The 1975, The Band CAMINO & Angels and Airwaves infuse a unique and unprecedented sound. From local music venues to festivals around the UK, they have built a reputation for energetic live shows. The band is made up of Rhys Messenger (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), George Bowerman (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Ben Watton (Drums) and Jake Trim (Bass/Vocals).
The band’s music has drawn a wide audience worldwide and once they began working with producer Michael Smith (RYP Recordings), the production of 'Free', 'Timewaster', 'Reason', 'I Need You', 'Years', 'Second Messing', 'Something New', 'Come Alive', 'Last Chance' and 'Golden Days' commenced. All of their music has received hundreds of radio plays including BBC Introducing Solent. In December 2023 they opened for Jake Bugg at the Poole Lighthouse Theatre and returned there in January 24 to attend the Original Music Awards for Dorset where they won "Best Live Act".
